  • Active and resist any efforts to confine or restrain them

  • As long as they are free to move, they are generally sunny, happy and easy going babies

  • Smile a lot and early, even at strangers, rarely demonstrate any fear or hesitation around new situations or people

  • Very playful and eager to reach out to new experiences

  • Very verbal and noisy babies, want to make themselves heard and eager to imitate the talk of those around them

  • Once they learn to talk, they constantly comment on things they see around them, asking hundreds of questions a day

  • Allow them to stretch themselves and test the limits of their environment

  • Admire their energy, resourcefulness and their love of life

  • Help them develop self-discipline and good decision-making

  • Model the skills of looking beyond the present moment and fulfilling promises
