The MBTI stands for the Myer - Briggs Type Indicator . It is a method of identifying and understanding a person’s true nature and the ways they operate.

It was developed from the famous psychologist, Carl Jung’s writings by Catherine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers.
The MBTI contains 16 distinctly different personality types, which we all can fit into.
Everyone is born with a type and may remain that type their entire lives, if they aren't too affected by their cultural and social surroundings.
Our personality type affects all aspects of our lives : the way we play as toddlers, the subjects or activities in school that interest or bore us, and the occupations we find satisfying as adults.

It even affects our relationships, as our type greatly affects who we choose to interact with and the way we interact with others.

Therefore, MBTI is the key to understanding others. Once you know a person's type, you can understand a lot about that person.

Unlike the usual personality tests found online that determine what fruit you are, the MBTI has been proven to be at least 80% accurate for those who took the test.

The main goal of knowing about MBTI is to understand and appreciate differences between people. It is also a great way to improve your relationships with others, as it helps you to communicate effectively and to resolve conflict with different kinds of people.

It has been widely used in workplaces and organisations and fields such as counselling and education, as it provides much insight into how different people work and the personalities of each person, in order to fully utilise their strengths and understand their weaknesses.
A personality type is a 4-letter code that shows a person’s preferences on each of the 'dimensions'. Example : INFJ
( Introversion, INtuition, Feeling , Judging )

Because each person has 1 preference per dimension, there are 16 different combinations altogether.
There are 4 components, or ‘dimensions ‘, that make up a person’s personality type. They are : how people are energised (Extraversion vs Introversion), what kind of information they naturally notice and remember (Sensing vs Intuition),
how they make decisions (Thinking vs Feeling), and
how they like to organise the world around them (Judging vs Perceiving).

Everyone has a preference for one side or the other on each side of these dimensions , but every individual has all of the characteristics, its just that your preferred side dominates more of your actions, thinking, and decision-making, and your non-preferred side is more weaker than your preferred side.
We cannot choose our preferences, as we were born that way.

It is also not better or worse to have one preference over another.

Although every individual is unique because we all have our own genes, parents, and life experiences , people of the same type have a lot in common.

Remember, no type is better than another, or smarter or duller than another. Rather, each type has its own natural strengths and weaknesses.
